Amazon’s Fire seems to be dying.Meanwhile, LG and Samsung are ready to bring more successful devices to the market.
We all know Amazon’s business model. Their bread and butter is sales, so they don’t always focus on making the best devices. They want these devices to promote their content, and so they sell these without making much profit. I am not sure they can make up for the loss the Fire Phone has brought upon them this past quarter, though.
It seems they have taken a $170 million write-down for unsold inventory and other supplier costs during Q3 2014. If you thought that was a lot, you will be surprised by the general loss they reported, which amounts to an insane $544 million.
Opinion: That is the biggest loss the company has ever had, which is odd considering their sales did go up. I suppose they are just investing a lot into the future?
The wait has been long enough. LG is ready to start rolling out the launch of the G Watch R in early November. European markets will be the first to get them, starting with Italy, France, Spain and the UK. America and Asia will follow soon afterwards.
We are still not sure about pricing and other details, but at least we know the device is coming very soon.
Opinion: I happen to like the LG G Watch R, as it has that sporty look I happen to prefer. It’s definitely not the classiest of Android Wear devices, though. It’s success will depend a lot on the price, which sadly we have no idea on.
Samsung has introduced a brand new device that screams affordability. The Samsung Galaxy Core Max comes with a 4.8-inch 960x540p display, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.4.
It won’t be a bad device for those looking to get a new phone without breaking the bank, but we must keep in mind this phone is headed to China. We may or may not see it coming to the states, but I would bet against it.
Opinion: Price is still unknown, but Samsung should have a harder time in China. Manufacturers like Xiaomi and Meizu totally own that market.
