Amazon and Samsung are going tablet nuts today. These can be had for a good price, unlike the new products Sony is announcing.
The Amazon Fire HD 7 tablet may not be for everyone, but it’s a great little tab for anyone looking to get an affordable pad. Amazon is further sweetening the deal, as this device is part of today’s Gold Box Deal of the Day. You can purchase a Fire HD 7 for only $79, a $60 discount over its original price (and yes, the discount applies to versions with more storage too).
The only trick is that the deal will be over tomorrow, so you best act quick if you want in on this! No tricks here. Just a good ol’ discount from your friends at Amazon.
Opinion: I am considering getting one of these just in case I need is as a gift in the future. It’s insane how far we have come. Being able to buy a totally usable tablet for under a Benjamin.
We can’t go too long without Samsung announcing new tablets, and today they have launched a couple for the US market. They call them the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and Galaxy Tab A 9.7. These affordable tablets, with only the size to differentiate them, will start shipping on May 1st.
Both come with a 1.2 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 1024x768p resolution display (for both), 5MP/2MP cameras and Android 5.0 Lollipop. Prices are set at $229.99 and $299.99, respectively.
Opinion: Of course, these are affordable tablets, but they seem a bit underwhelming even at that price point. Regardless, some of you may love their well-known feature set and awesome new design.
Sony has announces a slew of home entertainment products, but we are especially interested in a couple. The STR-DN860 and STR-DN1060 are a couple A/V receivers that promise an astounding streaming experience, as well as the sound quality you can expect from a company like Sony.
But what is it that really makes these receivers special? What caught my eye was that these happen to come with Google Cast support, something we sure hope more manufacturers can start adopting. They also support Airplay, Bluetooth and other standards, but all these features won’t come cheap. These are priced at $499.99 and $599.99, accordingly.
Opinion: I really wish more affordable products came with this feature. It can’t be too hard to add, right?!
