It sure is hard to report on news today! I mean, you just never know what is an April Fools joke and what isn’t. These stories from Acer, HBO and Square Enix seem legit, though.
Chromebooks are awesome – they are affordable, fast, simple and convenient. It could be the best computer for certain users, but does Chrome OS have what it takes to take over other markets? We have seen some companies experimenting with different form factors, and now Acer is jumping in with a new Chromebase.
They are keeping very quiet about this upcoming computer, but what makes it special is that it has a 21.5-inch 1080p touch screen. They are also letting us know it will come with an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, two speakers, HDMI out, USB 3.0 & 2.0 ports, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.
Opinion: I still think Chrome OS doesn’t have what it takes to take over your desktop. This may be good for libraries and schools, though. It will all depend on the price.
Dish and Turner Broadcasting have reached a very interesting deal. Not only because this will grant Dish the ability to keep channels like TBS, CNN and Cartoon Network, but also because it allows Dish’s Sling TV to offer HBO for $15 a month.
Opinion: It’s said traditional cable customers will get the option to sign up for HBO Now sooner, but knowing we will soon be able to watch Game of Thrones on Sling TV sure is nice. This will really help push Sling Tv forward in the battle of internet TV.
Missing Lara Croft? Who could forget the days when the first Tomb Raider title was released. We were al crowding over the TV set playing the game, fantasizing over who was Lara Croft’s boyfriend. We were kids and it has been about 20 years since then, but Square Enix is now letting you re-live those days.
I should also mention that they are letting you play for very cheap, which is unlike Square Enix. You can get the original Tomb Raider from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for just $0.99. Go get it, guys!
Opinion: So I won’t be playing the game all over again, but I will keep it on my list for slow weekends… which means I probably won’t download it. It’s an awesome game, though. You may want to relive those long lost adventures.
