Apple has officially announced the 13 inch Macbook Pro with Retina display and the leaked photos were right on the money, it is just about as thick as the Macbook Air!
The 13.3 inch Retina MacBook Pro is expected to have a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, up from the current 1280 x 800 pixels along with a considerable decrease in thickness and weight and powered by Intel’s latest generation Ivy bridge processor. Compared to the previous generation it has 300nit of brightness and 29% higher contrast ratio, 75% glare reduction and 178 degree viewing angles.
Under the hood we’ve got a 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 or Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 8GB of RAM, up to 768GB of flash storage and a 7 hour battery. It also sports a MagSafe 2 connector for charging, two Thunderbolt ports, USB 3, a headphone jack and dual-mics.
There is a new feature that is called Power Nap which back ups your computer as well as your email and your contacts.
The estimated pricing of $1699 makes the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro $600 more expensive that the entry level 13 inch model. For comparison, the difference between the price of a 15-inch Retina and non Retina MacBook Pro is a little less, at $400.
