With the likes of Samsung, LG and HTC already putting their heart and soul in making handsets with 5 inch plus displays, how can the Chinese be left behind? Chinese handset maker ZTE is all set to announce a 5 inch Android phablet in early 2013.
The phone from what we now know would be known as the ZTE Grand S, and would be unveiled on January 8, 2012 on the eve of the CES at Las Vegas. As of now, we are hearing rumors about this phone sporting a 5″ 1080p Full HD touchscreen. This handset is also quite thin and we are hearing about the possibility of ZTE staking the claim of the Grand S being the slimmest phablet on the market.
What remains to be seen however is if any other manufacturer does manage to fox ZTE and launch something even thinner. There is no word regarding the kind of processor that the Grand S would sport – but we are not expecting anything less than a Quad Core processor with at least 1 GB of memory to support it.
ZTE has hinted that the device would be made using ceramics and that it would feature “traditional Chinese style”. ZTE also claims that it would be a decent looker. As of now, we are expecting this one to sport at least an 8 megapixel camera with the capability to shoot in full HD.
