  1. for only 13$? Seriously? That would be amazing! I would buy one right no without asking a single question!
But I wonder how much the display, 4GB memory and the bluetooth module cost…?
Please keep us updated about this exciting project!

    • I talked to them today about getting a review model. We actually got to go hands on with it a few months ago. The early prototype I handled already had me drooling.

It’s coming to market, this one isn’t going to be a flash in the pan, it’s here to disrupt!

      • The fact that it is subsidized kinda scares me. I hope they don’t make you buy like a huge giftcard or a subscription to a service to buy only their books or some other non-sense.

        • Thanks for the note about the subsidy. I’m not in for a 24 months T-Mobile contract just to get that cool device. So like everyone else I’ll wait for the “free” retail price.
Now that I read through the txtr page and TheDigitalReader I am also curious if there are any options to set the font on the app…

  3. This is indeed fairly revolutionary, but I wonder what catalogues it will have access to. If Amazon and Google shut it out, where will I turn to get books?

The price is amazing; the ad is obnoxious :D

    • As I understand, it has access to your smartphone only – thus to whatever catalogue you can access from there.
I quite like the ad. Looks very professional to me.

      • if neither of those, there is always the chance you local library has ebooks to lend.

AND there is Gutenberg Project by google that is completely free. You may not be able to get all that you want, but you can get something.

Of course, if you know how to sneak into the naughty regions of your Android device, you can just pull the files downloaded from Amazon or whichever manually. Thus, may your cheap reading commence.
