Anime is a massive industry, the books, the movies, tv series and yes the costumes. You can’t live in Asia without getting a little bit curious as to what all the fuss is about. I decided to visit the 2012 Taiwan Anime Fair and I do so wearing a Sailor Moon costume.

A trip to the 2012 Taiwan Anime Fair as Sailor Moon

The subculture of CosPlay is very strong in pretty much every culture, over here it’s not Star Wars and Star Trek its Priestess from Ragnarok Online or Gun Mage Rikku of Final Fantasy X-2. When I heard about the 2012 Anime Fair here in Taiwan I couldn’t resist! When in Asia! Picking out the costume was challenging, picking a costume that wasn’t too obscure and that I could fit into! I settled on Sailor Moon because as an Anime icon she has crossed borders and made her mark in English speaking markets as well.

I come across some pretty cool things at the Fair, but my favorite takes place at 2:35 with the Necomimi Brainwave Cat Ears! You can pick up your own pair over at Amazon for $99 here if you just have to have them! If you want to see more interesting exploits like this one please let me know in the comments, or if you’ve got a story idea because clearly I’m willing to try new things!
