Sony gets creative with latest teaser, super thin OPPO R5 reaches India and Samsung releases a couple dual-SIM phones in the USA.
Sony’s YouTube page has been blessed with a brand new teaser. It doesn’t tell us much, but the dreamy video is “welcoming us to the new world”. There are also hints of Android 5.0 Lollipop in there, though they are a bit surreal and vague.
The most interesting part is that we do get a glimpse of a device in the reflection of an eye. It doesn’t tell us much either, though. It’s just a black square.
Opinion: It’s still early to see anything about the Xperia Z4, but maybe we will see a good phone at the CES show floor. Sony usually throws a big show in Vegas.
The OPPO R5 is much more than just a thin phone, as you can see in our detailed review. This phone is the whole package, and soon our fellow Indian geeks will be able to get their hands on their very own 4.85mm thick smartphone.
A new announcement states that the phone will be sold in India starting January 1st for 29,990 INR. This translates to about $470 USD.
Opinion: This is not really a bad price to pay for a phone of this caliber, but I will accept that there are some better options in India at that price. If you really value a thin phone, though, you can’t get much better than this.
The Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 are not the most hyped up devices in the USA, but they could be great options for those looking for a good dual SIM alternative. They both come with mid-end specs, though the A5 is a bit more powerful and larger.
If you have been looking to get one of these, today is your lucky day. Expansys is now selling both devices in the USA, but they don’t have too many in stock, so hurry up if you want one. They are going for $329.99 and $409.99, accordingly.
Opinion: Not too cheap for the specs, really, but do consider these are completely unlocked and off-contract. In addition, they come with dual SIM functionality, which can be priceless for some users.
