RIM rolled out the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 for it’s Wi-Fi only tablets. The new OS features improved security via encryption and text messaging capabilities in conjunction with the user’s BlackBerry phone. Many of the newest features can be downloaded in the BlackBerry App World Store.

The new version of BlackBerry Bridge enables the SMS function and one app that many users are sure to download is Print To Go. It’s an ideal mobile app that will allow to print on the go without worrying about which network you and the printer are connected t0.

PlayBook OS 2.1 also comes with improved layout options. Finally you can check your calendar, message and contact apps in landscape mode. Your PlayBook should automatically alert you of the update to 2.1, if not just tap on Software Update and enjoy.
