We’ve recently pitched Apple’s latest iPhone 5 against the ASUS Padfone 2 and noticed several features about the two platform that are worth comparing other than their widescreen displays. The first thing that you’ll notice when comparing them is that they’re both high end premium handsets.
With the iPhone you’ll feel like holding a wallet – small and light at 112 grams and you obviously get tons of features with this cutting-edge hardware. Meanwhile the larger Padfone 2 weighs in at 135 grams and is quite the looker even compared to other Andriod-powered gadgets in the market. But the Padfone 2 isn’t all looks, it has an extra 30% battery life compared to the iPhone 5 thanks to its bulky size. Processor-wise the ASUS both sport high end processors the Padfone running a quad core processor in the form of the Snapdragon S4 Pro at 1.5 GHz x 4 which has a quardrant benchmark score of 7500, Apple’s A6 is only a dual core chip which pale’s in comparison. Plus the ASUS also carries larger system memory at 2GB – the specs similar to a high-end computer!
If speed is what you’re after both devices sport LTE but the Padfone leading the way by sporting NFC. There are no upgrades for the internal phone memory for both devices since the batteries are sealed. Although with both you’ll have the option 16, 32 and 64GB. The ASUS Padfone 2 has got the largest megapixels concentration in its camera at 13 while the iPhone 5 lags behind at only 8 megapixels.
Still the iPhone 5 is more expensive than the better-specs ASUS Padfone 2, which is actually a shocker for me; and get this – the Padfone 2 comes bundled with the ASUS tablet also and yet it’s still cheaper. I’d go for slick designs personally; however, it is one of those trivial matters when we do comparisons.
