The IO storm has passed and now we can start looking forward to Google’s releases, but we also have news from other companies, as well as some nifty deals.
Microsoft is all about the Nokia X2 right now, which is an interesting concept. This happens to be Microsoft’s first Android device, though Nokia did release the X series before being acquired by the computer giant. You may regret purchasing one of those older generation devices, though.
Microsoft has announced that the Nokia X, X+ and XL will not be getting the company’s new 2.0 software, which is based on Android 4.3. This is due to hardware limitations, but Microsoft is promising more updates to come to these older smartphones.
Opinion: This is understandable if the reason is really hardware limitations, but I have a feeling something else is cooking at Microsoft’s HQ. I have seen less capable devices run Jelly Bean pretty well.
Meizu is making its way around the world and they have now set camp in France. Fans can now go to the French Meizumart and purchase devices from the MX series, which offer fair specs for a good price.
To celebrate, Meizu is holding two very nice promotions. Those who purchase the device from Italy or France will get a free back cover. You can also share their promotion on Facebook for the chance to win one of 3 goodies (nothing big).
Opinion: Meizu is on a roll, and hope they have news to share on the MX4 soon. Now that is looking like one hell of a phone.
Hot on the heels for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition? You may be sad to see the device has gone out of stock at the Google Play Store, but that doesn’t mean there is no more units to be had. In fact, eBay has some available and is selling them for a discount.
eBay offers Google’s Galaxy S4 for just $499.99, which is $150 less than usual.
Opinion: It continues to be a great phone, even if outdated. I do believe you can do much better with $500, though. After all, the Galaxy S4 is quite old.
