Google’s car is ready for the road! In other news, Samsung is teasing a heroic version of the Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC is looking to re-enter the tablet market.
Google’s self-driving cars are no news by now. We all know about them and have seen Google’s system run in a plethora of cars. We all went full-on fanboy when we saw Google’s very own self-driving vehicle, though.
It was the cutest thing ever, and had no steering wheel or pedals. Our dreams of the future suddenly changed and it didn’t help that the thing looked totally cute. Regardless, it was only a prototype and we didn’t expect it to hit the roads anytime soon, but the time has come.
Starting this summer, Google will begin testing these little cars in Mountain View’s public roads. Don’t freak out on us just yet! There will be a safety driver on board, with removable pedals and a steering installed. You know, just in case.
Opinion: Oh my. I really hope these little vehicles actually make it to market at some point. I would so love to not take the wheel on one of these!
It seems Samsung and Marvel are getting very friendly. A flurry of rumors surrounding superhero versions of the Galaxy S6 Edge have been rolling around, and recently Sammy announced they were giving out Avengers cases to anyone who purchases a Galaxy Note 4.
Today Samsung is teasing a little something for Iron Man fans. It’s a Galaxy S6 Edge box with a big Iron Man face in it. Above the box yuo can find a huge “COMING SOON” sign.
Opinion: Are any of you looking to get this phone? It seems totally awesome! I am not sure I can commit to keeping such striking colors, though. I like my phones plain and simple.
HTC failed royally in the tablet business, but it was something to be expected. Their larger devices were either too expensive or to cliche. They did a much better job with the Nexus 9, and now it seems they are interested in entering the lower-end tablet market with strength.
“There is less room for product differentiation and a fierce price war, so we must be very cautious about running that business. We will see if we can get better returns on smartphones or other businesses. But we are looking closely at it.” -Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia
This seems like a very interesting statement, especially coming soon after @UpLeaks told us there was an HTC H7 low-end tablet coming in Q2. Will this rumor come to fruition?
Opinion: I sure hope HTC re-enters the tablet market. They make amazing devices and there isn’t much competition for Apple tablets when it comes to design and build quality. I believe HTC could really make things interesting here.
