At the ongoing IFA 2013, Lenovo has announced a new addition to its smartphones lineup. The device is known as the Vibe X. Targeted as a mid-range device, it does however posses some high end features. To start with, this one features a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920*1080 pixels endowing it a PPI density of 440. The display is also quite durable thanks to the Gorilla Glass coating it gets. The device comes clad in a polycarbonate body with a laser-engraved 3D tactile finish. It is quite slim as well measuring just 6.9 mm across. The phone is quite light too at just 121 grams.
Powering the handset is a Mediatek MTK 6589T chipset that houses a quad core CPU clocked at 1.5 Ghz. The phone gets 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of onboard memory. The MTK 6589 T chipset is an enhanced version of the MTK 6589 chip and boasts of a faster CPU and GPU clock speed. Like most other phones powered by the MTK 6589 chipset, this one too gets dual cameras – the main camera being a 13 megapixel unit and the front one a 5 megapixel shooter. The main camera gets a back-illuminated sensor and also has an LED flash for low light imaging.
The phone runs Android 4.2 at launch and can be upgraded to newer versions as and when they become available. There is no word on the pricing of the same at this point. Expect this one to make its debut across a couple of Asian markets in the weeks to come. US availability however looks bleak!
