HTC has just announced a new device that is as powerful as the One M8, but as fun as the colorful mid-end smartphones. The purpose? To make a high-end phone that will bear a lighter, funner and possibly more affordable body. In comes the HTC One E8!
The HTC One E8 has been rumored as the HTC One M8 Ace, a name that proved to be just a placeholder (whether real or not) until now. As you can see, it looks much like an HTC One (M7), but made of polycarbonate material, otherwise known as plastic.
The new device carries the popular BoomSound speaker and gets rid of the UltraPixel camera. It also lets go of the dual-cam set-up the HTC One M8 boasts. Aside from that, we have nearly-identical specs compared to the One M8.
HTC One E8 specs
- Android 4.4 with HTC Sense 6
- 5-inch 1080p display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor
- 2 GB of RAM
- 16 GB of internal storage
- MicroSD support for up to 128 GB cards
- 13 MP / 5 MP cameras
- Dual nano SIM card slots
- 2600 mAh battery
Also important to note is HTC’s 5 MP front-facing camera, which is great for those selfies! The rest of the experience seems pretty standard. You get all the HTC Sense features and even Dot View case support! This happens to be the funnest case I have ever used, so I am certainly glad to see it coming to more HTC devices and not becoming a passing phase.
It is interesting to see is the addition of the Dual SIM slots, which may prove this device is made with Asian and European markets in mind. This mostly is where these dual-SIM devices are popular.
Official prices are still being kept secret, but we know the HTC One E8 will be available starting June, in “select markets”. As mentioned above, this is a very colorful and fun device, hence it will be available in multiple colors, including Electric Crimson (red), Polar White, Misty Gray and Maldives Blue. I happen to be a huge fan of that Misty Gray design!
