ITRI is a research institute in Taiwan and they’ve packed in 6 different kinds of technology into their “Bio Tree”. The design of the Eco Tree integrates technologies in different scenarios to demonstrate a variety of applications. Trees play an important role in the natural ecological cycle, performing photosynthesis, influencing climates, restoring air freshness, purifying water, and providing habitats.
Forests and green areas are often the target of ecological conservation and environmental protection efforts. ITRI’s Bio Tree has solar, photosynthesis, LED, bio membrane filtration, Ozone purification and air circulation.
A skylight using “SideLighter” technology developed by ITRI is installed above the Eco Tree. This setting demonstrates the use of windows for generating solar photovoltaic power. Power generating capacity of 110 * 90 cm (about 1 m2) 18 watts power output. Eco Tree demonstration area and power generation capacity: 18 W * 20 (pieces) = approx. 360 watts.
The attic fan is powered by solar windows. When the six fan units are all on, one unit uses solar power while the remaining five use mains power. Each unit has an air volume of 57 cubic meters per minute. With the central ceiling zone volume of 2646 cubic meters, the air circulates approximately 7.7 times per hour.
Eco-canopy photo catalyst uses TiO2 Nanomaterials Photocatalyst as a coating technology to resist germs and decomposes organic vapors (VOC) in the air.
The entire space is ventilated seven times per hour, blowing thru the photo catalyst coating area. Photocatalyst performance: 99.99% antimicrobial efficacy, and 1g can decompose 20 micrograms of formaldehyde VOC.
Only one daily thirty-minute Ozone Float cleaning, which can be powered by charging or via sunlight, generates sufficient ozone to clean a pond containing 3.5 tons of water so that, for example, if the pond originally needed to change out its water once a week, using Ozone Float this period may be extended to once every two weeks.
A diffused light panel and LED lights combine to create mood lighting. The aesthetics of a tree and mood lighting can create an entire space for the imagination. The diffused light panel and LED lights can be adjusted at any time to change indoor light in response to sunlight.
LED lamp energy savings: Compared with a halogen lamp of the same color with a luminous flux of about 14,903 watts, the 3417 watts power consumption of the LED lamp is only 23% of the halogen lamp.
