Dell has unveiled the Inspiron 15z Ultrabook, a 15-inch notebook with an optional touchscreen. It takes a page from the other Inspiron Ultrabooks, so there is no real surprise when it comes to looks. Still the device has clean lines and a rather attractive design.
It starts at $750 with a Core i3 processor, 6GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive paired with a 32GB SSD. If you have to have a touchscreen (and with Windows 8 you’ll want that option) you’ll have to fork out $900. If you want to beef things up there are Core i5 and i7 varieties and you’ll also be able to throw a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT630M GPU into the mix if you have to have integrated graphics.
It comes with a DVD burner so this will appeal to many who can’t go digital and it’s 4.12 pounds which isn’t too bad for a 15 inch device. It does technically meet the Ultrabook requirements but for some reason it feels more like a slim laptop than an Ultrabook.
