We have already shown you the best Verizon smartphones, but we know not all of you are looking to sign a contract or stick with a postpaid plan. Nothing beats the simplicity that prepaid plans offer, so why stay chained to a carrier?
Most carriers which offer prepaid plans also have their specific prepaid devices. This happens to be the case with Verizon. Most times you can use any other compatible phones, but there’s phones that have been optimized and recommended for Big Red’s prepaid plans.
These are the phones we are focusing on today. Out of Verizon’s prepaid selection, which are the best? Here are the phones we would recommend that you take a look at.
Let’s start with the Moto G, which happens to be among my favorite affordable smartphones. You really can’t go wrong with this phone, especially at the highly reduced price that Verizon sells its prepaid version for. You can get this Verizon Moto G for under half the price it costs unlocked.
The Moto G happens to be a very capable device, too. Its specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, a 4.5-inch 720p display, 5MP/1.3MP cameras and a 2070 mAh battery.
The Moto G is an amazing affordable smartphone, but we know many of you can’t live without your speedy 4G LTE data (which the Moto G lacks). If such is the case, there’s a great option that is just as affordable. It happens to be from the same manufacturer, too.
The Motorola Luge is being sold by Verizon for only $79.99, and it happens to come with pretty fair specs. These include a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch 960x540p Super AMOLED display, 8 GB of internal storage, 8MP/0.3MP cameras and a 2000 mAh battery. It’s pretty much a re-branded Motorola DROID Razr M.
HTC One M8
So, let’s stop playing around and show you the actual best phone you can get from Verizon’s prepaid phone selection. Big Red offers a good selection of devices that reach, and go above the $500 price point. I must say the HTC One M8 is pretty much the best one, unless you happen to be a fan of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
This phone comes with a stunning top-of-the-line design and build quality. Not to mention its specs, which include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a 5-inch 1080p display, an HTC Duo Camera and a 2600 mah battery.
The HTC One M8 continues to be among the best phones around, even as we near its 1-year anniversary. You really can’t go wrong with it if you have the extra cash to spare and want something truly powerful.
HTC Desire 612
If you want something more in between, I love the HTC Desire 612. Mostly for its design and HTC’s premium build quality, but the phone fares pretty well in performance for a $200 device.
It comes with a Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, a 4.7-inch qHD display, 4G LTE data speeds and a 2040 mAh battery. Though the specs may not sound impressive, this phone offers much more than paper can suggest. It comes with HTC’s amazing BoomSound dual speakers. And though the screen is not the highest resolution, it actually offers a very good viewing experience with its Super LCD 2 panel.
Now, I wanted to give you something a bit different for the last option. I know many of you are not fans of Android, which is what the rest of the list consists of. Verizon does offer iOS smartphones, but these also happen to be refurbished units.
With that said, I believe the iPhone 5s is overpriced, but you can have it for $550 if you really want to have an iOS smartphone.
