Bluetooth watches are nothing new and ever since Apple started announcing Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities on their devices we’ve been hearing rumors about a Smartwatch. Tech.163 out of China has been hearing whispers from the supply chain that Intel has developed a Smart Watch that Apple is interested in. The device in question has a 1.5 OLED display with indium tin oxide, or ITO coated glass.
If this rumor turns out to be true we should be seeing this device in the first half of next year. The fantasy of wrist-top computers has been around for as long as I can remember and right now there is quite a lot of Smart Watch talk in the OEM/ODM community. So regardless of a specific device from Apple we should expect to see several new devices next year.
If there’s any company on the planet that could make wrist-top computers popular it is Apple, they have the experience with iPod Nano so stretching that learning to a Smart Watch seems feasible. Earlier this year Sony released a Smart Watch which received mixed reviews.

Not sure why Apple necessarily needs Intel tech since Apple can fabricate their own chipsets and has already engineered tiny computing hardware such as the iPod Nano 6th-gen.
Perhap they are planning something similar to the Sony LiveView which operates as a companion to an Android smartphone/tablet. I don’t know if LiveView was really a success (I’ve been able to pick some up for $25 on eBay) and they are cool little devices, and now finally there are some new apps popping up supporting it. For instance, a plugin for Torque lets you monitor any of your car’s sensors wirelessly to a LiveView display.
