Looks like Apple is planning to come up with a new version of the iPad in the not too distant future. 9to5Mac is reporting, citing one of their “trusted” sources that Apple is likely to come up with this new version of a high capacity iPad soon. This is an interesting development considering the fact that we had already started hearing some rumors about the next generation iPad model , just a few months after the surprise introduction of the latest, fourth generation iPad.
This new iPad would supposedly come with a storage capacity of 128 GB – which is double the capacity of the current top-of-the-line iPad which “only” gets 64 GB of memory. Currently, the iPad is available in storage capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB – all of which are internally referred to as “good”, “better” and “best”. The arrival of this rumored 128 GB version should give some serious inferiority complex to the current king of the ring – the WiFi+3G 64 GB version. Apple is also rumored to have internally christened this high capacity iPad the “Ultimate”.
This new iPad will come in both black and white colors and more importantly, it will follow Apple’s tradition of launching distinct Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi+3G versions. There are rumors about this one to breach the $800 mark when it comes to over all pricing. But hey quality (and high capacity!) doesn’t come cheap!
Anyway, we will be monitoring this story for sure and get back once we hear something concrete.
