The Amazon event is in full swing an as expected they’ve launched a new e-reader the Kindle Paperwhite. It has a lot of new addition but the display is the big one, it’s Paperwhite like the name implies and has 62% more pixels a higher-res screen of 212ppi. this is a big step forward compared to what other e-readers and other Kindle’s have to offer.
The device is very thin at 9.1mm, they are claiming that it is thinner than a magazine and it’s even lighter then a paperback at 7.5 ounces. It also boasts 8 weeks of battery life.
There are several new features like time to finish, so you know how much longer you have until the end of the chapter or the end of the book. X-Ray tells you about the books characters and allows you to look up works, it’s not new, but it’s improved.
The Kindle paperwhite is available for pre-order today and ships October 1 and is $119, the 3G version is $179. They’ve also kept the previous generation of the Kindle, it’s the same but with new fonts, crisper text and a lower price point of $69.
