Amazon has announced their latest line up of tablets with the Kindle Fire & Kindle Fire HD, the original Fire remains 7 inches but has gotten an upgrade with a new, faster processor, double the RAM, faster performance.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD Specs, Pricing & Availability

Amazon hasn’t stopped there they have also release the Kindle Fire HD is 8.9-inch with a Texas Instrument OMAP 4470 processor and a 1920 x 1200 display of 254 ppi. it’s also very thin at 8.8mm and weighs 20 ounces.  Since this is a tablet that’s meant for HD content the smallest amount of on board storage that you can get is 16GB along side an HDMI out, Bluetooth.

It’s also a tablet meant to be used on the go, apparently it’s the air gap that causes a lot of the glare that we see on a devices display, they’ve laminated the touch insert on top of the display which provides it with 25 percent less glare.

They’ve taken connectivity very seriously as they’ve included a 5GHz WiFi band which is newer, cleaner and offers a big improvement. Also on board are two WiFi antenna so that you’ll always be able to grab every bite of connectivity and your hand will never get in the way when you’re holding it.

If all of that wasn’t enough for connectivity it’s also got MIMO, a small number of high-end laptops incorporate MIMO, and Kindle Fire HD is the first tablet ever to do so. MIMO is the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to improve communication performance.

If you’re wondering what this means, it means that this tablet will be fast, very fast.

There are a few other pretty neat features that they’ve got on board, Whispersync for voice.  Which will keep your audio-book and your eBook synced so that you can use both at the same time they are calling this the Immersion Reading experience.

Apps are getting some love from Amazon as well, we’re seeing customized Facebook, Skype, Email and they’ll even keep the levels of your games synced between all your devices.

Since this is a device aimed at family’s we’re not surprised to see an app to limit the amount of time your kids can engage in any one activity be it games or movies.  You can also create multiple profiles for all your kids.

You can pick it up for $299 and it will ship to you on November 20th.  Interested in placing an order? Here is the link to Amazon.

If you’re after an LTE edition, its only 2.2mm thicker and comes with 32GB of storage for $499 and also ships on November 20th.
