Of the two tablets Acer presented today at IFA, the Iconia W700 was closer to a stay-at-home device. It’s 11.6 inch display, 11.9 millimeter thickness and all aluminum casing made for a rather heavy tablet that always needs two hands or the docking station to hold it. That said, it will make for a nice at home entertainment device or desktop.
The 11.6 inch display is full HD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and is a 10 point touchscreen. The tablet has Dolby Home Theater for enhancing audio and there’s no doubt that it’d be a nice device to watch a movie or two on. It’s running Windows 8 and has the Intel Ivy Bridge i3 or i5 inside depending on the model. For storage, you have a 32 or 64 GB SSD. In terms of ports, the W700 has micro HDMI, standard USB and headphone jack.
The docking station had 3 USB ports for keyboard, mouse and whatever else you so choose to attach. The tablet has 8 hours of battery life, a1.3 megapixel front camera and a 5 megapixel back camera, which you can still use while the tablet’s positioned in the dock.
