Acer has come to market with several excellent tablets with decent specifications and wicked price points. It is a good thing that the ROM building community is so enthusiastic because ACER has just dropped the ball and announced that they will not be issuing updates to the Iconia Tab A100, A200 and A500.

Acer Disappoints, Iconia Tab A100, A200 and A500 Will Not Get Jelly Bean Update

Acer has just rolled the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Iconia Tab A700 and announced that the A210 and A510 are to follow. According to a UK spokes person of the 1 year old Iconia Tab A100, Iconia Tab A200 and Iconia Tab A500 tablets will remain on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This also means that the 3G versions the A101, A201 and A501 will not be getting Google latest OS.

This is extremely disappointing news but it’s lucky that customs ROMs for the tablets are plentiful. If you’re looking for more information on Jelly Bean ports they’ve been in the works since July, sadly I haven’t seen anything on the forums about an A200 port. Several people have tried the A500 build with mixed success. If you’re heard anything about the A200 please leave a link in the comments!

If you’re keen on getting project Butter onto your A100 or A500 here are links to the XDA developer forum that deal with the Jelly Bean ports:
